Game Designer & Programmer
Team size: 6
Length of project: 9 months
The final Capstone project for my Game Design degree. It was a game focused on the methodology and design practices of our team rather than the game itself.
My primary role on the team, outside of game design, was constructing, integrating, and debugging the wireless networking between our two Oculus Quest headsets. However, as tragedy struck several of my teammates, I took up additional responsabilities on the project, including: project management, mechanic systems design, and version control troubleshooting.
The game was always a VR experience, originally there were more players and powers all fighting one giant boss. As technical requirements and issues arose, we adapted the design and scoped the project down. We worked to keep the core of our design while scoping down to something manageable for a team of our size and in the limited time provided.
The game itself is a shared spatial VR game, where two friends must communicate and work together to defeat waves of enemies. The enemies were designed with this mechanic in mind and require cooperation between the players to defeat.
